Lifebeat Timekeeper

Build an inner pulse you can trust

Every metronome keeps time for you. Lifebeat Timekeeper teaches you to keep it yourself.

It hands the timing back to you, little by little, until you carry the beat yourself with more confidence than ever.

Here it is; the real app, running right in your browser:

Start free in the browser, with no account and nothing to install. Pro is where you build your own beats, sequences and exercise library, and it keeps all of it synced wherever you play. 14 days to try it out!

Whatever instrument you hold, you get the same beautiful, straightforward metronome. Sweep the dial, watch the beat move as a wave, and reach every time signature and subdivision without going anywhere else.

Whatever you play

Built by a drummer. Made for whoever is counting

Just because you're not a drummer, doesn't mean that you don't have to keep time.

01 · Build

Your beats, bar by bar, with real drums

Lifebeat Timekeeper lets you replace the click with beats - from short loops to full songs.

Lay your bars out, give each one its own time signature and subdivision, tap the notes in, then add the ghosts, accents and flams that separate a groove from a grid.

Hear your beats with beautifully recorded acoustic drums or cool electronic drums. Reorder and loop bars while it plays. Undo anything you regret.

The arrangement strip sits above the grid, so the whole song and one bar of it are on screen together.

The drums are a seventies Ludwig kit with a 24 inch kick drum, big toms and high end Zildjian and Paiste cymbals, recorded carefully, hit by hit in Lifebeat Studio. Program your beats or play some of the many preset beats or even full songs! For anyone who is not a drummer, use it as the most awesome backing track to your practice or music creations!

Free to play and loop. Pro for the whole collection, and for building your own.

02 · Drill

Repetition, without the rewinding

The bar you keep missing is the bar you should be playing.

Loop it in two taps, let Lifebeat Timekeeper keep score, and stop paying for the run-up every time.

You can loop anything, from a single beat to several bars, and your loop can run straight over the barline where the fill meets its landing.

Free on every plan, with no account at all. You loop the beats you have.

Two taps set it. This one holds one Verse bar and the Fill after it, so the landing gets practised too.

03 · Shift

Eighths, triplets, sixteenths, without missing a beat

Give every bar its own subdivision and play straight through the changes.

Eighths into triplets into sixteenths, and out as far as quintuplets, sextuplets and septuplets. Nothing exposes a shaky pulse like changing feel mid-phrase, and nothing builds one faster.

Time signatures move per bar too, so a run of 4/4 can turn into 7/8 and back inside one sequence.

Free to play, and to build simply. Pro for every subdivision and time signature, and up to 32 bars.

You choose exactly where the silence falls: two strips, the count over your beat.

04 · Inner Pulse

Own your rhythm from the inside out

Inner Pulse is the part of Lifebeat Timekeeper that makes you own the pulse.

It pulls the click away, on your terms or by surprise, and hands you the time. When the click returns it tells you the truth and you build your rhythm from the inside out.

Feel the beat. Lock it into muscle memory. Move your audience. Practising in silence is what turns time into something you own, and what you build alone is what carries a room.

Maybe you can follow a metronome all day. Holding the time alone is what you are actually building here.

05 · Tempo Trainer

Get it clean, then get it fast

The Tempo Trainer moves the tempo underneath you, so your hands stay on the instrument and your attention stays on the part.

Use it to scale up to speed gradually - or down to gain even greater control. It's harder than you think to go slower!

06 · Practice Timer

Decide how long, then stop deciding

Set a number of bars, or a number of reps once a loop is running, and it stops when you get there.

It counts minutes too, either real time or only the time you were actually playing.

Hand it the start and the stop as well, and the only thing left for you to do is play.

The Lifebeat Engine

None of that works if the click itself drifts

Studio-grade timing in your browser and on your phone.

Free or Pro, you are playing to the same engine, and here is what that means:

  • Sample-accurate clicks, scheduled on the audio hardware clock
  • Beat visuals compensated for Bluetooth output latency
  • Automatic recovery after calls and interruptions
  • Playback continues with the screen locked
  • Screen wake lock while playing
  • Plays through the iPhone silent switch
  • Now Playing card on the lock screen while you practice
  • Installs to your home screen as a standalone app

Who built it

One drummer, 1,400 versions, zero shortcuts

Mikas in his studio, with the drum kit, the piano and the microphones behind him
The room every drum sound in the app was recorded in.

I'm a drummer with a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, and I've practiced with a metronome for twenty years. I started prototyping on 20 March 2026 and have not stopped since: 450+ hours and past 1,400 versions so far, because I am, as anyone who knows me will tell you, quite the perfectionist.

Every drum sound is my own kit, recorded hit by hit in my studio. And the pulse on screen is round, not square, because that is how time feels in the body.

Most of it was tested the slow way: me, behind the kit, playing along for hours and fixing whatever got in the way. My son tried to break it at 300 BPM in 32nd notes while clicking on everything at once, and it kept playing. My daughter had opinions about every screen, and she was usually right. Students and drummers I work with caught the rest.

I teach drums, voice and music production, past thirty active private students. What I want for every one of them is the same thing this app is built for: the freedom that arrives when time stops being something you count and starts being something you feel. I still play shows, and twenty years of festival stages and small rooms have taught me the same lesson over and over. Your time has to hold when there is nothing to lean on.

Free and Pro

What you get for nothing, and what Pro adds

Free gives you the full metronome and a taste of Beats and Shift - as well as basic versions of Inner Pulse and Tempo Trainer. Go Pro to unlock the full beat making, presets and the full Inner Pulse and Tempo Trainer module. Soon you will also get the full Workout routines and practice tracking.

Pro is $7.49 a month, or $75 a year, which is 2 months free. Right now the launch discount takes 30% off both, so you pay $5.24 a month or $52.50 a year, and it keeps coming off for as long as you stay subscribed.

And it stays your price. The app keeps growing - more beats, more exercises, more to practise with - but a later price is for whoever arrives later. Get in now and you keep what you signed up at.
